A masterful building
Tailor-made for creatives
Due to the increasing demand for telephone connections after the First World War, a new telephone exchange was urgently needed in Berlin.
In record time from 1926 to 1927, an impressive, masterful example of expressionist Art Deco architecture was built on what was then Artilleriestrasse, now Tucholskystrasse, according to a design by Felix Gentzen.
After the Second World War, the telephone exchange was expanded to include the GDR Institute for Postal and Telecommunications Services, which has since formed the corner building on Oranienburger Straße.
The employees of a large new economy IT company have moved into the modern loft offices.

Impressive interiors
Impressively renovated staircases wind their way through the telephone exchange. A modern meeting room is located in the attic of the current telephone exchange.
